Enterprise updates!

Last week Drone Harmony released a new Mobile (Android) version, 2.8.4

The two main new features of the release are both for Enterprise users, and will help you work faster and more flexibly, while giving the option of adding structure to your data.

What’s it all about?

Unanchored missions today are focused on speeding up inspections of distribution poles, especially when you have imperfect location information and need to work at scale. With an unanchored mission, you can plan quickly and minimize pilot cycle time while still collecting high quality images.

Once the planner sets up the scope with the locations of the distribution poles via CSV import, the pilot just needs to sync and begin collection. The pilot just needs to align the drone directly above the pole to be captured, and start the mission. When the mission starts, a calibration image and location are captured which are used as a reference position for the rest of the inspection. We already offer 6 types of missions that take from 2 to 12 images plus the calibration image, for a variety of camera and coverage requirements, and soon we’ll allow you to create your own missions and share them to your team.

Above you can see the types of distribution pole missions that we currently offer, while the video below shows the actual inspection process.

The other major new development is around data structure and upload for Enterprise. We know how challenging it can be to keep track of hundreds or thousands of new images coming in each day, all with similar names and limited notes from pilots in the field. Our new option to upload directly from RC gallery from the SD card or drone to Amazon’s AWS S3 storage takes care of all the data management for you. Your data will automatically be put into a folder structure based on the important details of the asset that was captured, as well as be renamed into an informative and readable file name. Just configure your AWS S3 details under “Management”, perform your inspections, move the SD card to the controller, and you can start uploading while continuing to capture data. Your data will be immediately available in S3 in a fully structured set of folders, so your QA, AI, analysis, or client teams can immediately begin their work.

Of course, there’s more than that in this release. Everyone will benefit from a faster upload to the drone of your flight plan or mission, as well as more customizable hotkey bindings and more filtering to enable better understanding of the progress of your work.
